Selfishness is the root, plain and simple, even though a myriad of excuses were offered as to why abortion was chosen. Yet when closely examined, each of those reasons given can be traced back to “self”. For surely did she put her own needs, wants, and desires before those of her unborn child. Thus, in selfishness did she act, as it was her own life that she had in view, and none other, when she made the choice to terminate her pregnancy.
So while she was thoroughly convinced that, in the moment, abortion was her best option, now, however, does she lament that decision. For after the immediate sense of relief began to wane she was left bearing the weight of guilt over what she had done. And though she has attempted to suppress any lingering thoughts of regret surrounding the abortion she did commit, still she is unable to permanently dispel the feelings of shame that have since risen up within her, for she lacks the power to override the presence of shame.
Then like a prisoner does she remain, for from the grip of shame is she unable to escape and, as such, has she yet to experience the relief of lasting peace. Shame still has permission to maintain residence within her soul, for she has yet to take the necessary steps to see shame is evicted for good. However, it is not in her own strength that the shame which dwells within her shall be overcome, for the solutions of man are only temporary at best, meaning the feelings of shame may, for a time, be subdued, but will always resurface again, that is until its root cause is addressed.
So though she has sought to conceal the abortion she did willingly commit, shame prevents her from readily sharing that secret, as it is her shame that won’t allow her to forget that decision, no matter how hard she tries to silence its voice. Thus does the memory of her abortion still haunt her even now, though much time has passed since making that fateful choice; for indeed was that decision one that cannot be undone. And so does the consequence of that mistake plague her to this very day, for surely is she filled with much regret.
Yet the question of how to alleviate her suffering continues to elude her and, as such, has she all but given up searching for the solution that shall rid her of her internal vexation. Thus, in a quandary does she sit.
However, what she has yet to realize is that the answer lies right before her, for surely am I near to the brokenhearted. And so she must simply turn to Me in true repentance, where she lays down her pride and stops trying to hide from the truth, which is: that she knowingly took the life of another through the selfish act of abortion.
See then must she stop trying to run from that fact and face the reality of her actions. For no matter how she tries to justify her abortion, still was that decision driven by selfishness. And even if she were to recognize that having an abortion was wrong, she must still come to terms with the full magnitude of what she has done, for that is the only way she can be freed from the clutches of shame. Then, her secret she must reveal and thus be forthcoming about her past. For to remain silent about her selfish act of abortion shall only serve to prolong her bondage to shame and its persistent attack upon her identity.
Then do I say to those who are post-abortive, those who have sought to conceal their past, “It is time to come out of hiding and be washed in the cleansing flow of My love and forgiveness. For I have come in this hour to set you free from the bondage of shame so that it no longer has a hold upon you. Yet it is not simply an “I’m sorry” uttered in solitude that shall bring the longed for release, but the humble act of confessing one’s sin to another, and a turning to My Son in repentance, that is required for you to be delivered from shame. For I mean to set right what has been askew in your thinking of not only yourself, but of Me.”
See then has the voice of shame kept many of My daughters from operating in the fullness of their identity, or who I have called them to be. For they have accepted his verdict that they are bad, and so must forever remain tied to regret, for they are not deserving of anything more. Ah but I have come to dispel shames’ lies and restore back to My daughters that are post-abortive, all that shame has stolen. Therefore, do not be afraid to confess your sin one to another, for this is indeed the way forward.”
So to these daughters do I say again, “It’s time to come out of hiding and deal with your past so that shame is evicted for good! For it is time to reclaim that which he stole from you.”
So then, “Don’t dwell in silence any longer, but speak up and confess your sin.”
